About the department
Contiweb has his own Development & Engineering department, which employs about 20 colleagues. The work within the department can be devided into five segments; initiating new business, developling new products (new equipment or aftermarket business), sustaining (maintaining the product range/ replacing obsolete components), performance (finding technical solutions to complex problems on machines in the field) and configure-to-order work (developing variations and options on mostly standard products).
What you will do
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, programming and implementing automated systems within Contiweb’s machines and products. This includes both hardware and software.
- Designing control systems through PLC and drive configurations
- Designing user-friendly operator interfaces
- Programming PLC’s and HMIs in programming languages such as Structured Text, with systems such as Siemens TIA portal
- Testing and commissioning of software and hardware
- Integrating machines and industrial networks, such as Profinet, OPC UA
- Designing, testing and commissioning drive systems with (Siemens) drives, encoders and motors
You usually work on multiple projects simultaneously. You work mainly from the office in Beugen. Occasional customer visits are possible, but are not standard part of the job.

You are a driven Automation Engineer who likes to take initiative and has a strong passion for innovation. You have the ambition to contribute to the development of high-quality software solutions and constantly stay abreast of the latest trends, technologies and developments in the industry.
Software languages are familiar territory for you, with at least some experience with Structured Text (ST). In addition, you have basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical components, as well as knowledge of drive and control technology. You are also well-versed in the standards, safety regulations, quality and inspection requirements in the field of mechanical engineering and have experience with PLC controls.
- You have a higher vocational education, preferably with a background in computer science or mechatronics
- You have at least 3 years work experience in a similar position
- Work experience as an Automation Engineer/ Software Engineer in mechanical engineering is an advantage
- Preferably you have experience with object-oriented programming and programming HMI’s
