When Pim (38) joined Contiweb last October, he started as a Central Planner—a role defined by responsibility, structure, and a large volume of data to manage. But it quickly became clear that Pim is someone who spots opportunities. In less than a year, he grew from planner into Contiweb’s internal pioneer in AI applications. He was given the freedom to explore his ideas, test them, and ultimately implement them across the organisation.
A role he created himself
At its core, Pim’s work focuses on SAP master data: ensuring that all parts, drawings, links, and master records are accurate and up to date. But those tasks didn’t challenge him much. “I found it boring,” he says bluntly. When that happens, you have three options: complain, leave, or—like Pim—reorganise things and create a new approach.
So Pim dove into AI. During a weekend away with friends, a conversation about future AI systems sparked his interest. He wanted to understand it, master it—and most importantly, apply it in his work.
From manual work to smart automation
While many people still find AI intimidating, Pim mainly saw possibilities. He explored, experimented, and discovered how he could make his master data work smarter. Without any programming background, he built a system that automatically handles repetitive tasks. The result: less manual work, more room for innovation, and a major boost of new energy.
AI as a driver of innovation
His approach didn’t go unnoticed. When Pim presented his AI solutions to the management team, they were immediately convinced of the potential. Since then, Pim has been leading an internal AI working group and inspiring and supporting colleagues through workshops, helping them get started with AI.
His next step? Using smart analytics to enable predictive maintenance—an innovation that creates direct value for both customers and internal teams.
Passion fuelled by freedom
What Pim values most at Contiweb is the freedom to try out his ideas. No hierarchical barriers, no politics—if you come up with something, you’re encouraged to take action. That freedom gave him the opportunity to reshape his role and fully use his creativity.
For Pim, AI is more than just a tool—it’s his way of making things smarter, faster, and better. And that is exactly what fits Contiweb: an organisation where initiative is embraced, and where you get the chance to build something special, even beyond your original role.
